Our client is a well-established, Mid-Atlantic firm with over 30 years of experience in the commercial construction industry. Originally founded as a drywall contractor in Baltimore, MD, they have since expanded their operations to encompass real estate development, general contracting, and construction management. With a diverse portfolio that includes high-profile projects such as data centers, apartment buildings, entertainment venues, and more, this firm handles projects ranging from $5M to over $100M. They are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager with a mechanical background to contribute to a large-scale data center project in Northern Virginia.
Description
The Assistant Project Manager - Mechanical Specialty - Ashburn, VA
will support the execution of mechanical work for large construction projects, particularly in data centers. The key responsibilities will include:
- Project Coordination: Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical work, ensuring timely and quality installation of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.).
- Mechanical Scope Management: Oversee the mechanical scope of work, ensuring alignment with project specifications and deadlines, and ensuring compliance with design standards and safety regulations.
- Budget & Cost Control: Track mechanical costs, assist in preparing estimates, manage change orders, and maintain the project within budget.
- Schedule Management: Help develop and monitor schedules for mechanical work, ensuring tasks are completed on time.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Ensure all mechanical installations comply with codes and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, NEC, OSHA).
- Vendor & Subcontractor Liaison: Coordinate with mechanical subcontractors and vendors, ensuring resources, deliveries, and services align with project needs.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain and distribute project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and progress reports.
- Field Support: Conduct site visits to monitor progress, provide support, and resolve field issues.
- Problem Solving: Identify and address challenges in mechanical scope, schedule, and quality control proactively.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Provide updates to clients and stakeholders, ensuring satisfaction with mechanical systems.
Profile
The Assistant Project Manager - Mechanical Specialty - Ashburn, VA will have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Prior experience in construction project management, with a focus on mechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, etc.) and relevant codes.
- Proficiency with project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project).
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings.
Job Offer
