Engineering Manager - Industrial - Portland, ME
My client is seeking an accomplished Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team and drive excellence across complex project portfolios. This individual will oversee technical strategy, guide project execution, and strengthen the systems and processes that support long‑term operational success.

Description
The Engineering Manager will report directly to the Vice President and be responsible for:
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to engineering and project management personnel, ensuring designs and technical solutions align with performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish clear expectations around project milestones, deliverables, timelines, and quality standards; proactively support teams in meeting these commitments.
- Promote strong communication channels across engineering, project management, operations, and client stakeholders.
- Advance organizational initiatives focused on operational efficiency, standardization, and long‑term capability building.
- Support talent development through coaching, performance feedback, and structured professional growth planning.
- Navigate and resolve both internal and external conflicts with sound judgment and a collaborative mindset.
- Build and maintain departmental performance dashboards and metrics; provide regular updates and biannual deep‑dive reviews.
- Foster a positive, growth‑oriented culture that attracts and retains high‑performing technical talent.
Profile
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or another technical discipline.
- 5+ years of leadership experience within a process engineering, sanitary process, or related technical environment.
- Strong background in the design of sanitary fluid processing systems.
- Demonstrated analytical approach to decision‑making, including the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable plans.
- Proven track record of aligning stakeholders with competing priorities toward a unified direction.
- Well‑developed project management capability including budget, schedule, quality, and risk control.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable stepping into new responsibilities as business needs evolve.
- Familiarity with GMP, FDA, and ISO compliance expectations.
