Chief Estimator/ Estimator - Federal Projects up to $40M
Looking for a strong Estimator/ Chief Estimator for upcoming projects West of Boston! This individual will need to be comfortable with Federal projects/ Government contractors on projects up to $40M. My client has been serving the Greater Boston Construction Market for 30+ years, beginning as a local roofing contractor and has now grown into a multi-faceted General Construction firm. They specialize in Federal Construction Projects from $500K - $40M. They are very actively looking for an experienced Construction Estimator to support a variety of Federal Projects in the area. Description
As the Estimator you will:
- Review Project Documents: Analyze drawings, specifications, and contracts to understand project scope.
- Prepare Cost Estimates: Calculate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs using estimation tools.
- Bid Coordination: Develop and submit comprehensive bid proposals with accurate pricing.
- Subcontractor and Supplier Outreach: Solicit and evaluate bids to ensure competitive and complete pricing.
- Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project quality and intent.
- Risk Analysis: Assess potential project risks and incorporate contingencies into estimates.
- Collaboration: Work with project managers, architects, and engineers to align estimates with goals.
- Market Analysis: Monitor material, labor, and market trends to adjust cost projections.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of estimates, assumptions, and project correspondence.
- Post-Bid Review: Analyze completed projects to refine future estimates and improve accuracy.
Profile
The successful Estimator will have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Construction Technology, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience as an Estimator
- Strong Communication skills, potential sales background
- General Contractor experience or construction subcontractor
- Project background in Government Contracting
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple projects
- Strong literacy of MS Word and Excel
- Working understanding of Timberline/Sage software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
