Staff Accountant

This is a very exciting opportunity within a growing group organization. They specialize in events, music, hospitality and catering services, and are looking for a Staff Accountant to join their Manhattan based team. The role has a wealth of progression prospects and will be very varied for the successful candidate.

Client Details

The client are an exciting events and hospitality group that are growing rapidly within the market! They are heavily involved in a number of huge events throughout the year (FIFA World Cup, Met Gala, NYFW etc.) and are based across two New York City offices (Lower Manhattan/FiDi and Bushwick). The business has a small finance team of 4 and is looking to expand due to increased workload, and this role will report directly into the Controller of the team.

Description

The successful Staff Accountant will:

• Oversee the General Ledger for the entire business and all of its departments
• Prepare the reports for complimentary Food & Beverage items
• Manage the daily cash deposits and credit card transactions
• Oversee and manage the end-to-end Accounts Payable ledger for the business
• Maintain accurate files for the POs
• Daily and weekly bank reconciliations
• Seeking invoice approval and ensuring the correct coding of the purchase ledger invoices
• Manage the vendor accounts in the system
• Assist with the monthly close process
• Main point of contact for any finance queries
• Review event checks against Banquet Event Orders (BEO).
• Prepare deposits and handle bank/hotel change requests.
• Prepare 'Due Backs' and maintain Petty Cash, including reimbursements.
• Create the Daily Cash Summary and monitor drop/safe procedures.

Profile

The successful Staff Accountant will:

• Have approximately 3-5 years of experience in accounting and finance
• Have prior experience working within the hospitality (hotels, restaurants etc.) or events industry (highly desirable)
• A prior knowledge of the food and beverage industry
• Happy to work fully in the office (either in Bushwick or FiDi)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good team player
• Strong Excel skills

Job Offer

• $85,000 - $105,000
