CNC Manufacturing Engineer - Medical Device - Danbury, CT

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer leads CNC process development, programming, and production optimization for precision medical device components in a fast‑paced, highly regulated environment. This role supports new product introduction and continuous improvement by developing scalable processes, troubleshooting machining challenges, and driving advanced manufacturing excellence.

Description

In this role you will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and be responsible for:

  • Programming new CNC jobs and optimizing existing programs for milling, multi‑axis machining, and related processes. MasterCAM programming skills preferred.
  • Designing fixtures, tooling, and work‑holding solutions to support repeatable, high‑efficiency machining.
  • Troubleshooting CNC programs, machining processes, equipment issues, and work‑holding constraints.
  • Applying high‑efficiency machining techniques and supporting machining of exotic/high‑temperature alloys.
  • Developing work instructions, setup sheets, and training materials for operators.
  • Serving as Manufacturing Engineering representative for NPI programs and supporting production transfer activities.
  • Developing scalable manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures for new and existing products.
  • Supporting hands‑on production floor activities by troubleshooting issues, optimizing workflows, and driving improvements.
  • Creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation aligned with ISO 13485 and internal QMS practices.
  • Leading process validation activities including IQ/OQ/PQ and TMVs.
  • Ensuring compliance with customer specifications, FDA requirements, OSHA standards, and relevant regulatory guidelines.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and structured problem‑solving methodologies.
  • Leading cross‑functional teams to resolve technical challenges and support operational success.

Profile

A successful candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in precision CNC machining environments
  • Demonstrated expertise in CNC milling and multi‑axis machining, including programming, setup, optimization, and troubleshooting
  • CAD/CAM programming proficiency, MasterCAM skills preferred
  • Experience machining exotic alloys and applying high‑efficiency machining strategies
  • A track record of developing manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures within regulated environments
  • Experience supporting NPI activities and transferring products from prototype to production
  • Strong written communication skills for generating reports, procedures, and validation documents
  • A BS or MS degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Biomedical, or related engineering discipline
