The Manufacturing Technician will:
- Lead day‑to‑day operation of the metallographic lab, including sample preparation, equipment operation, and analytical evaluations.
- Prepare, cut, mount, grind, and polish cross‑section samples to support engineering studies and process validation.
- Execute manual and semi‑automatic assembly tasks for implantable device components, ensuring consistency and adherence to procedures.
- Operate sandblasting, polishing, and surface‑treatment equipment to support process development and production activities.
- Collect data for engineering experiments (DOE, range‑finding) and report findings to support optimization initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation covering sample preparation, production activity, and process parameters.
- Collaborate with engineers, Quality, Supply Chain, and R&D to provide operational input and support workflow improvements.
- Ensure compliance with safety, GMP standards, and internal quality procedures while maintaining equipment in optimal condition.
- Track and report operational KPIs related to workflow efficiency, process performance, and equipment utilization.
Profile
The successful Mechanical Technician will have:
- Technical degree or certification in mechanical technology, materials science, electronics, or a related field.
- Experience with metallographic preparation including cutting, mounting, grinding, and polishing.
- Hands‑on experience with sandblasting equipment, grinders, polishing systems, or similar lab/manufacturing tools.
- Familiarity with manual and semi‑automatic assembly processes in a lab or production environment.
- Basic understanding of welding, soldering, molding, surface treatment, and cleaning processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise technical procedures.
- Knowledge of GMP, quality systems, and safe laboratory practices.
- Effective communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with engineers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn manufacturing software systems.
- Reliable, self‑directed, and comfortable managing routine processes independently.
