Chief Estimator - North New Jersey

We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Estimator to lead our preconstruction and estimating operations, overseeing all bid processes from concept through completion. This role requires a detail-oriented leader who can balance strategic vision with hands-on estimating expertise to drive competitive, profitable results.

Description

• Lead and manage all estimating activities, ensuring accurate, competitive, and timely bids.

• Oversee the preparation of conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and cost analyses.

• Review bid documents, specifications, and drawings to identify scope, risks, and opportunities.

• Develop subcontractor/vendor relationships and maintain a robust, qualified bidder database.

• Direct and mentor estimating team members, fostering technical growth and consistency.

• Coordinate closely with operations, project management, and business development teams.

• Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and construction methods to maintain competitive edge.

• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry best practices.

Profile

• 10+ years of progressive estimating experience in commercial construction, including at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.

• Proven track record with diverse project types, particularly corporate interiors and banking/financial institution projects.

• Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and materials.

• Skilled in preconstruction planning, bid strategy, and cost control.

• Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Procore is a plus.

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to balance detail orientation and big-picture objectives.
