Millwork Project Manager

The Millwork Project Manager will oversee the full cycle of luxury millwork packages-from shop drawings and production through delivery, installation, and final quality checks. This role requires a deep understanding of high‑end millwork fabrication, field coordination, and the ability to maintain flawless quality across complex, architecturally demanding projects.

This premier general contractor operates in both New York City and Fairfield County, CT, specializing in ultra‑high‑end gut renovations of penthouses and townhomes in Manhattan as well as ground‑up custom homes and estates throughout Connecticut. Their projects showcase museum‑quality craftsmanship, meticulous architectural detailing, and seamless coordination with elite architects, designers, and discerning clients.

Description

As a Millwork Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Manage the end‑to‑end process for all millwork scopes on luxury residential projects
  • Coordinate with millwork fabricators, shop leads, installers, subcontractors, and vendors
  • Review shop drawings, samples, mockups, and material selections for accuracy
  • Ensure fabrication aligns with architectural intent, specifications, and finish standards
  • Oversee schedules, delivery logistics, procurement, and installation sequencing
  • Conduct site walks to verify dimensions, field conditions, and millwork integration
  • Maintain documentation, RFIs, submittals, and project logs related to millwork packages
  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, and designers to resolve challenges
  • Ensure all millwork is delivered and installed on time with outstanding craftsmanship
  • Provide proactive quality control and punch‑list oversight to final completion

Profile

A successful Millwork Project Manager should have:

  • 5-10+ years of experience in millwork project management or high‑end millwork operations
  • Strong understanding of millwork fabrication techniques, materials, finishes, and joinery
  • Background in luxury residential construction (NYC or CT preferred)
  • Ability to read architectural drawings, shop drawings, and detailed millwork packages
  • Experience coordinating complex custom pieces: cabinetry, paneling, built‑ins, trim, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate with architects, designers, and clients
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple scopes simultaneously
  • Familiarity with construction management platforms and shop software (Procore, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Problem‑solver with a meticulous eye for detail and uncompromising quality standards
