Junior CFO Opportunity - Real Estate - Chicago, IL

My client is a privately held property management company based in the Chicago area with a growing portfolio of residential and commercial properties. As part of an evolving internal structure, they're creating a new Junior CFO position to work closely with the current CFO, with a clear long-term succession plan.

The Junior CFO will have hands-on involvement across all areas of the business-managing accounting and month-end close, overseeing cash flow, and leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning. This role offers a unique opportunity to grow directly into the CFO position and make a meaningful impact, as the individual will be engaged in every facet of the organization.

Description

Junior CFO Responsibilities:

  • Managing all accounts and leading the month-end close process
  • Overseeing cash management - Planning, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Performing budget-to-actual analysis - Handling e-financing and managing company debt
  • Managing insurance policies
  • Collaborating closely with operations and comfortable being pulled in multiple directions
  • Supporting refinancing efforts
  • Working directly with the COO on operational matters
  • Exploring alternative investments

Profile

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration; CPA or MBA is a strong plus
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, exposure to the real estate sector is a strong plus
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and internal control frameworks
  • Demonstrated success in driving financial performance and improving outcomes
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong interpersonal presence
