Project Accountant
The client we are working with is a fast growing industrial contractor, that work in the manufacturing, real estate and property industry. They are looking for a Project Accountant to join the team on a permanent basis and the role is based in Avon (MA). The successful candidate will have prior experience working in the construction industry at a similar level.
Client Details
The client are a fast growing industrial contractor that are growing as a team and looking for a Project Accountant to assist with the day to day operations of the Accounting function. You will be working in a team of 4 and will be responsible for the day to day Project Accounting for the business. The role will report directly to the Controller and you will be the main point of contact for all accounting and finance queries related to the company's projects.
Description
The successful Project Accountant will:
- Prepare, review, and submit AIA billing applications and Time & Materials (T&M) invoices, ensuring compliance with contract terms and client requirements.
- Monitor and manage project financial performance by tracking costs, budgets, forecasts, and change orders in collaboration with Project Managers and field teams to ensure accuracy and profitability.
- Perform monthly project reconciliations and assist with month-end closing activities.
- Daily bank reconciliation
- Maintain accurate financial records within Viewpoint Construction Software, including project setup, budgets, and cost codes.
- Support internal and external audits through organized record-keeping and reporting.
- Assist the Controller and the Project Management team with financial analysis, reporting, and ad-hoc accounting projects.
- Cross-Training / Support Responsibilities:
- Process and verify certified payroll submissions for prevailing wage projects in accordance with state and federal requirements.
- Assist with union benefit reporting and compliance.
- Act as back-up to Payroll Coordinator, processing and submitting multi-state, multi-craft union payroll.
- Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for project accounting, payroll, and compliance.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
Profile
The successful Project Accountant will:
- Have a minimum of 3 year's experience as an Accountant within a Contractor or Construction business
- Hands on Project Accounting experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well with a team
- Strong Excel skills
- Prior working knowledge of Viewpoint (desirable, not essential)
Job Offer
- $90,000 - $100,000
