Electronics - Memory Test Engineer - Newbury, MA

As a Memory Test Engineer, you will design and support test solutions for memory semiconductor components using automated test equipment. You will play a key role in implementing the necessary hardware and loadboard setups, as well as providing ongoing support for production products to ensure optimal performance and reliability.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of advanced test plans for memory devices, ensuring full coverage of all performance, functional, and reliability metrics.
  • Leverage advanced statistical tools to analyze large datasets, extract insights, identify failure trends, and drive actionable recommendations to enhance manufacturing processes.
  • Act as the go-to expert for diagnosing intricate memory failures, utilizing high-end diagnostic equipment (e.g., high-speed oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) to identify root causes.
  • Conduct thorough root cause analysis using methodologies like Six Sigma, FMEA, 8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa diagrams, BOMs, visual aids, work instructions, and control plans, proposing and executing corrective actions. Present findings to Review Boards when necessary.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize test processes, focusing on enhancing efficiency, scalability, and accuracy, while driving automation efforts to reduce test cycle times and boost throughput.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, offering technical guidance on testing methodologies, tool usage, and failure analysis techniques.
  • Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure alignment between test plans and product objectives, troubleshooting issues related to memory design and manufacturing.
  • Ensure meticulous documentation of test procedures, results, and failure analysis, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with industry regulations (e.g., JEDEC, ISO) and internal quality metrics.

Profile

Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in memory testing or semiconductor manufacturing, including memory test methodologies (e.g., DRAM, NAND-Flash, EE) and Wafersort.
  • Expertise in test automation and programming languages such as Python, C++, and LabVIEW.
  • In-depth knowledge of memory test equipment, including automated test equipment (ATE) like Advantest, Teradyne, Nextest, and bench instruments.
  • Proficient in using bench instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, meters, power supplies, signal generators, and curve tracers.
  • Skilled in analyzing complex test data, identifying failure modes, and troubleshooting memory devices using root cause analysis techniques.
  • Strong understanding of memory device design, packaging, and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiar with industry standards such as JEDEC, ISO, and how they apply to memory testing and manufacturing.
  • Able to work effectively in both team settings and as an independent contributor in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced in managing multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines with attention to detail.
