Senior Estimator
Commercial Construction Estimator in Portland, Oregon will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including office, retail, industrial, multi-family, and tenant improvements. This position plays a critical role in helping our company secure new business by delivering competitive and thorough project estimates.

Description
Cost Estimation and Bid Preparation:
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for commercial construction projects including materials, labor, and equipment costs.
- Analyze architectural and engineering drawings, project specifications, and other documentation to determine project scope and requirements.
- Develop quantity takeoffs and detailed cost breakdowns for all construction elements.
- Assemble and submit bid proposals within required deadlines.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities through value engineering without compromising project quality.
Subcontractor and Vendor Coordination:
- Solicit and review bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Evaluate and compare subcontractor bids for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.
- Negotiate contract terms and pricing with suppliers and subcontractors.
Project Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, architects, and clients to ensure the project budget aligns with expectations.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walk-throughs to understand site conditions and project requirements.
- Provide input and insight into project schedules, budget management, and cost control measures.
- Clearly communicate estimating methodologies, assumptions, and inclusions to project teams.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and submit detailed cost estimate reports and bid proposals.
- Maintain organized records of historical cost data, project estimates, and bid results.
- Track and document changes in project scope or design that may impact cost estimates.
- Assist in post-bid reviews and project handovers to ensure accurate transition from estimating to project management.
Profile
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 3-7 years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial construction methods, materials, and building codes.
- Proven ability to prepare competitive, detailed, and accurate estimates.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction processes including site development, structural work, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing), and finish trades.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills with vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing accurate and thorough estimates.
Preferred Certifications (Not Required):
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other industry-recognized estimating certification.
- OSHA 30 Certification or equivalent safety training.
