Plastics - Product Development Engineer - Fall River, MA
The Product Development Engineer will work closely with the Sales, Operations, and Pre-Production teams to enhance and optimize existing processes while facilitating the introduction of new products. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and problem-solving techniques to effectively define process windows at various stages of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Engage with both new and existing customers to assess their needs, follow up on inquiries, refine project specifications, and ensure design solutions meet customer expectations.
- Utilize technical knowledge to assist engineering and sales teams in addressing product and application requirements.
- Review incoming orders for technical and functional feasibility, offering suggestions to deliver the best solution for the customer's application.
- Facilitate technical communication between sales, customer service, marketing, and manufacturing teams.
- Prepare timely product proposals and conduct product demonstrations to meet customer needs.
- Develop formal quotes and pricing, utilizing cost modeling techniques, in response to sales opportunities and customer RFQs.
- Analyze customer design proposals and specifications to determine feasibility and estimate costs.
- Use internal tools and resources to support product application recommendations.
- Provide customers with the necessary design information and help facilitate approvals.
- Proactively anticipate business changes, identify opportunities, and propose solutions that enhance operational efficiency and process improvements.
- Coordinate activities related to technical developments, including designing and executing experiments and process optimizations.
- Stay updated on relevant industry technologies and applications to maintain a cutting-edge knowledge base.

Ideal Candidate:
- Education and Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent is required. Consideration will also be given to candidates with significant rubber/plastic processing experience in place of formal education.
- Qualifications:
- Familiarity with and understanding of quality standards in Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in Six Sigma, continuous improvement techniques, or other problem-solving methodologies essential for effective solution implementation. Experience with lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
