Head of North America - Small Molecules CDMO
The Head of BD will be responsible for leading the strategic direction, planning, and execution of the CMC/CDMO sales across North America. Reporting to the Global SVP of CMC and BD, this individual will manage a team of high-performing seasoned reps with the expectation to add headcount with heavy investment in the region.

Our client is a leading Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) specializing in the development and manufacturing of small molecule Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). With a global presence and a reputation for excellence, they are committed to delivering innovative solutions to our clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. They are seeking a Head of Business Development to lead NA efforts out of Boston.
Description
- Develop and execute a comprehensive CMC business development strategy for the United States.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the business development team to achieve and exceed sales and revenue targets.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the small molecule/API sector.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with key clients, industry stakeholders, and partners.
- Collaborate with global leadership to align business development strategies with overall company goals.
- Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments to inform strategic decision-making.
- Represent the company at high-profile industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration across internal teams to support client needs and project success.

Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related leadership role within the CDMO sector including API/CMC.
- Proven track record of leading and managing successful business development teams.
- Extensive understanding of CMC/API services.
- Deep understanding of the small molecule/API development and manufacturing process.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Strategic thinker with a strong business acumen and ability to drive growth.
- Ability to build and maintain strong client and industry relationships.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the United States and occasionally internationally.
- Located in Greater Boston (relocation assistance applicable if necessary).
Job Offer
