Description

  • Reviews civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to quantify earthwork, grading, and utility installations.
  • Estimates costs for excavation, backfill, stormwater systems, water and sewer utilities, and associated site infrastructure.
  • Evaluates equipment needs, production rates, material pricing, and subcontractor proposals for accurate bid development.
  • Identifies constructability challenges, site constraints, and potential risks that may impact cost or schedule.
  • Prepares detailed takeoffs, budgets, and competitive bids to support project planning and contractor decision‑making.

Profile

  • Strong technical foundation in earthwork, grading, stormwater management, water and sewer systems, and general site infrastructure.
  • Proven experience with construction takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, Agtek, Trimble, HCSS) and the ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
  • Accurate quantitative skills, with the ability to develop detailed material, labor, and equipment estimates for excavation, pipe installation, trenching, and restoration.
  • Practical field understanding, giving them insight into production rates, equipment capabilities, sequencing, and potential constructability challenges.
  • Strong analytical and risk‑assessment abilities to identify cost impacts, assumptions, and uncertainties within site conditions and design documents.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors during the bidding process.
  • Highly organized and detail‑oriented mindset, ensuring estimates are complete, competitive, and fully documented.
