Assistant Project Manager - Mechanical Contractor - Manassas,VA

The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with a Project Manager or Senior PM to gain hands-on experience managing mechanical construction projects. Once acclimated, they will take on responsibility for 2-3 smaller projects independently.

Operating across government, mission-critical, education, and commercial sectors, this contractor delivers tenant fit-outs, retrofits, ground-up construction, and Design-Build projects, with mechanical project sizes ranging from $500K to $40M. They also take on General Contractor roles for projects where mechanical work exceeds 70% of the total scope.

Description

• Assist in planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical construction projects.
• Support budgeting, scheduling, and procurement processes.
• Communicate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Track project progress using Microsoft Projects, Excel, and Spectrum software.
• Help manage project documentation, RFIs, and submittals.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with industry standards.
• Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and clients to maintain project timelines and objectives.

Profile

• 1+ years of experience in construction project management (mechanical experience preferred but not required).
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Projects, Excel, and Spectrum.
• Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
• Interest in mechanical construction and willingness to learn.
