RELOCATION PACKAGE - BURLINGTON, VERMONT - Quality Engineer

The Quality Assurance Engineer will provide high-level quality assurance engineering support, overseeing the implementation and improvement of the Quality Program for critical equipment design in the utility and nuclear industries. They will establish priorities, direct work, and offer technical expertise to department personnel to ensure the successful completion of quality-related tasks at our Burlington, Vermont facility.

Description

The Quality Assurance Engineer will:

  • Conduct supplier surveys, audits, and maintain the Approved Supplier List.
  • Perform external audits and surveys (ASME, ISO, NUPIC, customer, order surveillance) and internal audits.
  • Develop and drive completion of corrective actions and reduce Discrepant Material Reports (DMRs).
  • Provide expertise in ASME Code activities, including welding, hydrostatic testing, NDE, Code Stamping, and ANI interface.
  • Oversee document control and ensure procedures align with quality program requirements.
  • Maintain ownership of the QA Manual and oversee its updates and implementation.
  • Develop and execute employee training programs related to quality assurance.
  • Track and report Quality Assurance metrics, analyzing trends and driving improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Assist with quality plans, controls, and contractual compliance, including cost reduction efforts for DMRs and warranties.
  • Support documentation coordination, inspection activities, and Quality Engineer responsibilities during absences or high workflow periods.
  • Represent the organization in nuclear/quality-related user groups and conferences (e.g., ASME, NIAC, NUPIC).
  • Onsite at our Burlington, Vermont facility

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent experience, with interest or experience in NDE (e.g., liquid penetrant testing).
  • 2-5 years of experience in quality control inspection or implementing quality programs.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving and quality improvement tools, including preventive and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of quality philosophies, principles, systems, and customer-supplier relationship dynamics.
  • Basic understanding of nuclear quality systems and compliance with domestic and international standards.
  • Hands-on experience with audit processes, including planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and general computer applications.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of ASME B&PV Codes Section III and/or VIII (preferred).
  • NDE certifications or ASQ Auditor Certification (preferred).
  • Willingness to travel 5-10% annually.
  • Local to Burlington Vermont or willing to relocate
