This general contracting firm, headquartered in MD, with additional offices in Florida and California, specializes in hospitality renovations throughout the United States. With a strong focus on delivering comprehensive construction and renovation services for hotels and resorts, the company has built a solid reputation in the industry. Boasting a team of over 50 professionals, it manages projects that range from $3 million to $50 million. Known for its positive company culture and commitment to internal growth, the firm prioritizes promoting talent from within, positioning itself for continued expansion in the hospitality sector. Recently acquired by a national construction management firm, they are looking to grow their team by bringing on an a Director of Estimating. This person will be responsible for overseeing the company's estimating team & efforts.
Description
The Director of Estimating - National Projects - Maryland will be responsible for:
- Oversee and manage the estimating department for a general contractor
- Lead the preparation of cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, and overhead
- Review and analyze project plans and specifications to ensure accurate estimates
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors for bid submissions
- Develop and implement estimating procedures, guidelines, and best practices
- Review subcontractor proposals and negotiate pricing and scope of work
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of bids to clients
- Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and material pricing
- Assist in the development of project budgets and financial forecasting
- Evaluate project risks and advise on potential cost-saving strategies
- Train, mentor, and manage estimating team members
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align estimating strategies with company goals
- Participate in pre-construction meetings and client presentations
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and construction methodologies
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, codes, and safety regulations
Profile
The Director of Estimating - National Projects - Maryland will have:
- at least 10 years of experience in construction estimating
- experience managing and leading a team of Estimators
- hospitality renovation, corporate interiors, or any other fast-paced project experience
- a bachelor's degree in a construction related field preferred
- proficiency in construction estimating software, spreadsheets and other relevant tools
- strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- ability to handle multiple project simultaneously and prioritize accordingly
- strong problem-solving skills
