Accountant

This role is responsible for supporting the month-end close process, maintaining the general ledger, preparing reconciliations, and ensuring accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP. The position also supports fixed assets, intercompany accounting, sales tax filings, process improvements, and audit activities within a fast-paced retail environment.

Description

• Record journal entries, allocations, and accruals accurately and timely.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are properly classified.
• Review general ledger activity and prepare balance sheet reconciliations, including prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts receivable, and accrued liabilities.
• Process and reconcile intercompany transactions and invoices.
• Manage fixed asset schedules and calculate monthly depreciation.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of corporate credit card accounts.
• Prepare and submit multi-state sales and use tax filings.
• Analyze operating expenses and provide support during the monthly close process.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and reduce close timelines.
• Support external audit requests and contribute to special projects and ad hoc analyses.

Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within retail or multi-entity organizations.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and hands-on experience with general ledger accounting.
• Experience working with SAP or similar ERP systems.
• Knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax compliance and filings.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
