Civil Project Manager - Heavy Highway
The Project Manager will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of civil construction projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience managing civil projects, such as highways, bridges, roads, and site development.
Client Details
The client is a respected and growing general contractor based in North New Jersey, specializing in civil construction projects, including heavy highway, infrastructure, and site development. With a proven history of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget, they are looking for a skilled Civil Project Manager to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to lead and manage a variety of challenging and high-impact projects while working in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Description
- Manage all phases of civil construction projects, from pre-construction through to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, and quality control.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, engineers, and local authorities, to ensure project specifications and requirements are met.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring projects are completed on time.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring all costs are tracked and that the project stays within budget.
- Review and approve submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation.
- Monitor daily field operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations, quality standards, and project timelines.
- Lead and mentor a team of subcontractors, laborers, and project staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise, proactively addressing challenges to keep the project on track.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and permitting requirements.
- Prepare and present regular project updates to clients, senior management, and other key stakeholders.
- Review contracts and other project documents to ensure accurate understanding and execution of project scope.
Profile
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil project management, with a focus on heavy civil projects (e.g., highways, bridges, site development, infrastructure).
- Strong understanding of civil construction methods, project scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
- Proven experience managing teams and subcontractors to ensure high-quality work and timely project completion.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations related to civil construction projects.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred.
- OSHA 30-hour certification and other relevant safety certifications are a plus.
