Plastics Industry - Process Engineer - Ossipee, NH

The Process Engineer oversees the planning, direction, and coordination of manufacturing equipment and processes to ensure the production of high-quality injection molded products. They are responsible for managing molding activities during new program launches, implementing and/or refining manufacturing processes, and supporting operations in troubleshooting and driving continuous process improvements.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new processes using scientific molding principles, assess and document new and existing processes, and implement changes to improve product quality, productivity, and equipment efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to process technicians, operators, and other molding personnel.
  • Create and maintain clear process documentation to ensure processes and procedures are understandable for all employees, while offering technical support to improve yield, throughput, and part quality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently start, operate, and shut down process-related equipment; troubleshoot production issues and develop new processes.
  • Collaborate with equipment and material vendors to address machine and material-related issues.
  • Monitor injection mold performance, recommending refurbishment based on cycles, process capability, and tooling history.
  • Interact with customers to resolve issues and provide updates on new projects.
  • Implement technical solutions, including statistical methods, to meet customer cost, quality, and delivery expectations.
  • Support and promote safety, environmental, and ergonomic initiatives within the facility and manufacturing operations.
  • Stay updated on technological advancements in the injection molding industry and advise senior management on opportunities to enhance competitiveness.

Profile

Ideal Candidate:

  • A B.S. degree in Plastics, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering is required, along with 5+ years of hands-on experience in an Injection Molding Operation.
  • Additional training, such as the RJG Master Molder series or experience with eDart, is a plus.
  • Strong, well-rounded technical knowledge in injection molding processes, tooling, equipment, materials, manufacturing, and quality control.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal guidance.
  • Capable of managing multiple start-up projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong teamwork and organizational abilities.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to think creatively and offer innovative solutions.
  • Leadership capabilities, with the potential to oversee process technicians in an indirect supervisory role.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with both customers and team members.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and skilled at multitasking.
  • Reliable and punctual, able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining organized documentation.
