Industrial - Manufacturing Supervisor II - New Bedford, MA

Lead 2nd shift operations at a fast-paced manufacturing facility in New Bedford, MA. You'll oversee a team of machine operators, driving safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Ideal candidates bring 5-10 years of supervisory experience, Lean manufacturing expertise, and a hands-on leadership style. Shift runs 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM.

Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations using Lean principles to drive improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
  • Provide hands-on leadership to ensure a safe work environment, strong quality performance, and operational efficiency
  • Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and standard operating procedures
  • Optimize labor, materials, and equipment to meet production goals and scheduling demands
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented culture through regular communication, clear task ownership, and strong team engagement
  • Coach and develop team members in problem-solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee vacation planning, shift coverage, and overtime as needed
  • Promote cross-training to strengthen work cell flexibility and team capability
  • Spend the majority of time on the production floor, actively leading, mentoring, and supporting the team
  • Lead by example and uphold values of accountability, teamwork, integrity, respect, and excellence

Profile

Ideal Candidate:

  • A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field is required
  • 5-10 years of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Solid background in Lean manufacturing with a demonstrated history of driving process improvements and cost reductions
  • Skilled in applying Lean tools to identify and resolve operational challenges
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to support business needs beyond standard hours
  • Strong communication, team-building, and leadership capabilities
  • Proven ability to mentor peers and lead cross-shift supervisory teams
  • Prior experience working in a unionized environment is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as JD Edwards, SAP, or similar platforms for inventory and production management
