Director of Sourcing & Purchasing (Textiles)

$175,000 - $215,000/Year

Reporting to the VP of Supply Chain, the Director will oversee sourcing, purchasing, production, and vendor relations, while also contributing hands-on to daily operations. The ideal candidate is a strong, collaborative leader who can guide a team of six (four direct and two indirect reports), while remaining deeply involved in key functions like global sourcing, vendor management, and cost optimization.

A leading importer, manufacturer, and distributor of textile products serving industries such as food & beverage, healthcare, and hospitality is seeking a Director of Sourcing & Purchasing. This dual-role position blends strategic leadership with tactical execution and plays a critical part in shaping the company's sourcing and purchasing function.

Description

Leadership & Functional Execution

  • Oversee sourcing and procurement teams, actively engaging in daily operations such as pricing negotiations, vendor management, and quality assurance.

Global Sourcing Strategy

  • Design and implement international sourcing and purchasing strategies, combining high-level leadership with hands-on involvement in supplier and procurement activities.

Supplier Lifecycle Management

  • Manage supplier identification, evaluation, onboarding, and performance reviews, directly participating in negotiations and building long-term vendor relationships.

Cost Optimization & Vendor Engagement

  • Lead cost-reduction initiatives and secure favorable supplier agreements through effective negotiation and relationship management.

Process Improvement & Operational Efficiency

  • Champion process enhancements across the product lifecycle, ensuring efficient sourcing and procurement workflows.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Partner with cross-functional teams-including product development, sales, marketing, and logistics-to align sourcing strategies with broader business objectives.

Quality Assurance Oversight

  • Direct quality control processes across the supply chain, proactively resolving issues to ensure adherence to product standards.

Team Development & Leadership

  • Mentor team members and promote operational excellence, maintaining a hands-on leadership style to support day-to-day execution.

Strategic & Operational Planning

  • Collaborate with executive stakeholders to define strategic goals and play a key role in executing both tactical and long-range initiatives.

Performance Metrics & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and monitor KPIs related to spend and supplier performance; implement improvements based on data-driven insights.

Travel & Supplier Engagement

  • Manage global supplier relationships and sourcing efforts, including travel of up to 30% for supplier engagement and oversight of critical initiatives.

Profile

  • 10-15+ years of senior leadership experience in sourcing and purchasing within the textile industry.
  • Over 5 years in a Director-level role, successfully balancing strategic oversight with hands-on operational management.
  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field; advanced business education preferred.
  • Deep expertise in raw materials, manufacturing, and production sourcing across a wide range of product categories, with a strong foundation in textiles.
  • Recognized for excellent communication and leadership skills, including team management and stakeholder engagement across internal and external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end sourcing and procurement processes, drive cost-saving initiatives, and implement sustainable sourcing strategies.
  • Highly analytical with a track record of data-informed decision-making in complex supply chain environments.
  • Technically proficient in supply chain management tools and standard office software suites.

Job Offer

  • Compensation between $175k-$215k on the base (DOE)
  • Hybrid, 4 days a week onsite for the first 90 days, then 3 days a week thereafter
