Legal Secretary - Trusts and Estates
The Legal Secretary is a client-facing, fast-paced role that plays a critical part in maintaining the smooth operation of a sophisticated Trusts & Estates practice. The team is seeking a proactive legal professional who knows the ins and outs of Trusts & Estates. This person should thrive in a fast-moving environment, and be confident handling high expectations with professionalism.

An established and well-regarded law firm in Stamford, CT is seeking a seasoned Legal Secretary to support a highly respected attorney with a long-standing estate planning practice.The attorney you'll support has built deep client relationships over several decades and values precision, professionalism, and a no-nonsense approach. His long-term assistant is retiring after extensive tenure with the team, and the firm is looking for someone equally committed and capable. Description
Serve as the first point of contact for clients; handle communication with care and tact
Draft and prepare estate planning documents
Maintain attorney's calendar, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings
Process time entry and handle client correspondence (FedEx, USPS, UPS)
Prepare post-execution binders; witness and notarize documents
Maintain filing systems and document management tools (e.g., iManage)
Utilize legal tech platforms such as Aderant, GEMS, ChromeRiver, Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis
Provide occasional overtime support as needed
Work closely with outgoing secretary during a brief transition period
Profile
6-10+ years of Legal Secretary experience supporting attorneys, ideally in Trusts & Estates law
Experience drafting estate planning documents (e.g., POAs, HIPAA releases, advance directives)
Professional, organized, and comfortable with high client interaction
Able to work independently with a high level of discretion and attention to detail
Notary Public (or willing to become one)
