Senior Controls & Robotics Engineer | Automation

The Senior Controls & Robotics Engineer will serve as the principal automation architect for our growing network of production facilities. In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of controls and robotic systems-spanning design, programming, deployment, optimization, and long‑term system reliability.

  • Key Responsibilities

    Systems Architecture

    • Lead PLC logic development (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) for complex, high‑throughput packaging and assembly lines.
    • Create, test, and optimize HMI user experiences for operational clarity and system stability.


    Robotics Engineering

    • Manage end‑to‑end programming, motion path design, safety configuration, and commissioning for industrial (Fanuc/ABB/KUKA) and collaborative robots.
    • Ensure all robotic cells meet or exceed modern safety and performance requirements.


    Automation Standardization

    • Build and manage a unified, scalable codebase ('master controls library') to guarantee consistent controls behavior across stationary facilities and mobile manufacturing units.


    Deployments & Commissioning

    • Collaborate with equipment vendors, engineering partners, and internal project teams to source, install, and launch new automated systems throughout the country.
    • Oversee SAT, I/O checkout, debugging, validation, and ramp-up.


    Technical Escalation

    • Serve as the senior‑level escalation point for complex controls and robotics issues that require advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
    • Develop permanent solutions and update shared standards accordingly.


    Innovation & Prototyping

    • Evaluate emerging robotics platforms, AI-enabled control technologies, and advanced end-of-line automation solutions.
    • Build prototypes and pilot systems to assess feasibility and scalability.


    Mobile Automation Integration

    • Adapt controls and robotic systems for deployment on mobile manufacturing platforms, supporting transportability, rapid startup, and modular operation.


    Networking & Data Layer

    • Set standards for industrial networking architecture, ensuring secure connectivity and compatibility with future SCADA, MES, and centralized monitoring systems.

Technical Requirements

  • PLC Expertise: 7+ years with Rockwell Studio 5000 and/or Siemens TIA Portal; strong background in motion control, coordinated multi-axis systems, and high‑speed automation.
  • Robotics Experience: Demonstrated success deploying 6‑axis robots and collaborative robots in production settings; proficiency in Fanuc TP, ABB RAPID, KUKA KRL, or URScript.
  • Industrial Networking: Strong command of Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus TCP, and associated industrial communication protocols.
  • Safety Knowledge: Deep familiarity with ANSI, RIA, and ISO robotic safety standards, including interlocks, light curtains, scanners, and safety PLC logic.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or equivalent hands‑on industry background.
  • Experience: 8+ years in manufacturing automation-preferably in packaging, high‑speed distribution, or fast‑moving consumer goods (FMCG).
  • Travel: Willingness to travel up to 50% to support system launches and major automation upgrades.
