Project Manager - K-12 Projects
This role supports the delivery of ground-up and renovation projects across K-12 and higher education facilities, partnering closely with project management and field teams to successfully execute complex work within active campus settings. Client Details
Our client is a fast growing established general contractor in the K-12 space that is expanding their reach into the northern Illinois market. With projects underway and more coming down the pipeline, they are looking to add a tenured Project Manager to the team to help with market expanision. Their project portfolio includes ground up and interior renovations of K-12 schools in the area.
Description
- 50% Project Management
- Provide construction management oversight, include strengthening of client relationships and managing project scope, schedule, budget, costs, deliverables and change orders for various construction and rehabilitation projects
- Coordinate and direct the work of trade contractors
- Monitor project progress and quality
- Review RFI's, submittals and change orders
- Participate in project meetings and planning sessions
- Risk mitigation
- Monitor relates issues such as saftey, authorization, and third party coordination
- Provide select project management support, expertise, and documentation as needed, including bids, project schedules, cost reports, and cash flow predictions
- 30% Client Relations
- Serve as liason for client, staff and construction management teams
- Address problems and challenges with urgency and team collaboration
- 20% Supervision and Leadership
- Provide day to day coaching, feedback and direction for effective performance of project team
- Identify and support development opportunities for growth and improvement of team
Profile
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience
- 15+ years' experience in construction
- Public sector experience, and experience in the public bidding process
- Strong understanding of scheduling and risk management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Subcontractor/Client relationship management
- Self directed and highly organized
- Strong computer skills with Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Bluebeam
- Blueprint reading
- Ability to travel local when needed (potentially 25%)
