Project Manager - K-12 Projects

This role supports the delivery of ground-up and renovation projects across K-12 and higher education facilities, partnering closely with project management and field teams to successfully execute complex work within active campus settings. Client Details

Our client is a fast growing established general contractor in the K-12 space that is expanding their reach into the northern Illinois market. With projects underway and more coming down the pipeline, they are looking to add a tenured Project Manager to the team to help with market expanision. Their project portfolio includes ground up and interior renovations of K-12 schools in the area.

Description

• 50% Project Management
• Provide construction management oversight, include strengthening of client relationships and managing project scope, schedule, budget, costs, deliverables and change orders for various construction and rehabilitation projects
• Coordinate and direct the work of trade contractors
• Monitor project progress and quality
• Review RFI's, submittals and change orders
• Participate in project meetings and planning sessions
• Risk mitigation
• Monitor relates issues such as saftey, authorization, and third party coordination
• Provide select project management support, expertise, and documentation as needed, including bids, project schedules, cost reports, and cash flow predictions
• 30% Client Relations
• Serve as liason for client, staff and construction management teams
• Address problems and challenges with urgency and team collaboration
• 20% Supervision and Leadership
• Provide day to day coaching, feedback and direction for effective performance of project team
• Identify and support development opportunities for growth and improvement of team

Profile

• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience
• 15+ years' experience in construction
• Public sector experience, and experience in the public bidding process
• Strong understanding of scheduling and risk management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Subcontractor/Client relationship management
• Self directed and highly organized
• Strong computer skills with Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Bluebeam
• Blueprint reading
• Ability to travel local when needed (potentially 25%)
