Senior Accountant - Professional Services in Chicago

The Sr. Accountant a Professional Services firm will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, general accounting functions, and financial analysis to support the firm's operations. This role involves managing the month-end close process, preparing financial statements, handling account reconciliations, and supporting budgeting and forecasting efforts. This positition will eventually be the Controllers #2!

Description

• Prepare and maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in compliance with GAAP.
• Lead the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reviewing general ledger entries, and performing reconciliations to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee the general ledger accounts, ensuring accurate coding of transactions and resolving discrepancies to maintain the integrity of financial data.
• Perform detailed reconciliations for various accounts (e.g., cash, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets) and prepare variance analysis for financial statements.
• Collaborate with the finance team to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment with firm goals and industry trends.

Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• 3-6 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a professional services or consulting environment.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.
