Michael Page- IT Server Support Engineer
The IT Server Support Engineer will provide technical support and maintain server systems to ensure smooth business operations. You will be responsible for maintaining globally distributed infrastructure, ensuring system reliability, and providing advanced user and vendor support. This role is hybrid and long term contract, possibility to convert full-time.

Description
For the production and test environments, this role will be responsible for:
- Proactively ensuring the whole technology stack runs optimally, with resilience and reliability
- Maintain patching, updates and recommendations for sequencing updates to maximise functionality and minimise downtime and risk of failure
- Proactively manage issues to define the root cause and recommend permanent solutions
- Liaise and coordinate with external managed service, software and hardware providers
- Provide service level and contract input
- Supporting change activity by providing test environments and performing deployment activities
- Transition of project works into production environment and subsequent monitoring
User Support:
- Provide appropriate Level 2 or SME systems support, including training and pre-emptive identification and resolution of user issues
- Work with other support teams within IT Operations locally and offshore, and vendor partners to deliver the best outcome for the end user
Vendor & Change Management:
- Engage with vendor partners in incident management and change tracking and follow up
- Execute and enhance the operation of the IFM IT & Vendor Change Approval Board (CAB) process and meetings
- Act as a reviewer and implementer of IT change that is presented at the weekly IFM CAB meeting. Profile
Key Technical Requirements:
- Strong experience managing and administering Windows Servers
- Proficiency with VMware
- Exposure to network technologies
- Exposure to databases
- Ideally, familiarity with cloud environments
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working within globally distributed infrastructure
- 10+ years of overall IT experience, including 5+ years in engineering or support roles
- Background in financial services/banking is beneficial but not required
Soft Skills:
- Excellent customer‑facing communication skills; must be comfortable interacting with a large number of end users
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide high‑quality user support
