NPI Engineer - Medical Device - Hudson, MA
This role focuses on developing and optimizing catheter manufacturing and assembly processes, transferring designs from R&D to full-scale manufacturing, and improving existing products for scalability and performance. The engineer will design and validate processes, create components and fixtures, conduct experiments, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring complex catheter systems from concept to commercialization.

Our client is a medical device company focused on developing advanced catheter and disposable devices for cardiovascular and endoscopic applications. They specialize in bringing complex, high-precision products from concept through commercialization in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.
Description
This NPI Engineer will:
- Develop and optimize catheter manufacturing/assembly processes
- Transfer design and assembly processes from R&D to manufacturing
- Design for manufacturability (DFM) and scalability
- Perform process validations and design of experiments (DOE)
- Author and execute test methods, protocols, and reports
- Develop components and sub-systems for complex cardiac catheters
- Produce 3D models and technical drawings; assemble prototypes and fixtures
- Collaborate with vendors for components, sub-assemblies, and services

Profile
A successful NPI Engineer will have:
- 3-5 years experience developing and commercializing complex catheter or disposable medical devices
- Strong knowledge of catheter manufacturing processes
- Hands-on experience with catheter materials such as polymers (Pebax, nylon, PTFE, FEP, PEEK) and metals (Nitinol, steel)
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks) and technical drawing interpretation
- Skilled in process validation, design of experiments (DOE), and statistical analysis (Ppk, Cpk, tests of variance/means)
- Ability to assemble prototypes, design fixtures, and work in a lab/shop environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for medical devices
