Controller
The client we are working with is a fast growing manufacturing and production business, that specialize in the medical equipment and aerospace field. They are looking for a Controller to join the team on a permanent basis and lead the accounting for the company. They will be one of 2 people in the finance team and will manage a junior member of the team (AP and AR).
Client Details
The client are a global manufacturer of medical, aerospace and defense components. The head office is based in Oxford (MA) and the successful Controller will be the leading the finance team. There will be one direct report and the team will have full oversight of the monthly and quarterly accounting, as well as the company's entire cost accounting. They are looking for a candidate with a strong background in Cost Accounting, and you will report directly into the President of the company!
Description
The successful candidate will:
Financial Operations & Accounting
- Proactively refines and implements enhancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness of core accounting processes.
- Manages month end and year end close.
- Manages audits and relationships with CPA firms, banks, valuation firms, and insurers.
- Maintains the general ledger, chart of accounts, and all supporting schedules.
- Oversees AR, AP, bank reconciliations, and cash flow management.
- Ensures compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies.
- Serves as the administrator for the company's 401(k) and ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan).
- Provides Cost Accounting & Manufacturing Support
- Implements and maintains standard costing, job costing, and variance analysis.
- Partners with production to assess and report margin performance.
- Monitors inventory valuation, cycle counts, and material cost changes.
- Prepares weekly and monthly operational finance dashboards as may be required.
Financial Planning & Strategy
- Leads the annual budget, forecasting, and scenario modeling.
- Partners quarterly with the President to build and present financial and business results to the Board of Directors.
- Delivers actionable insights on profitability and operational efficiency.
- Models and supports long-term planning, capital investment decisions, staffing decisions, and margin analysis and creating improvement initiatives as may be required.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement
- Strengthens financial systems, policies, and workflows as the company scales.
- Creates visible KPI reports that drive awareness for leadership and departments.
- Manages and improves internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Functions as the on-site expert for the ESOP, (if unfamiliar, willing to learn), including employee education, plan compliance, coordination with trustees, and annual valuation.
- Prepares financial data for ESOP valuation firms and ensures timely, accurate reporting.
- Serves as the Administrator for the ERP system and manages all service contracts.
Profile
The successful Controller will:
- MUST have a strong prior working knowledge of manufacturing Cost Accounting
- Approximately 5-7 years of experience in cost accounting
- Happy to work 5 days per week in the office (Oxford, MA)
- Strong Excel skills
- Excellent team player
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Job Offer
- $120,000 - $135,000
