Senior Electrical Engineer | Electronics

$140,000 - $150,000/Year
You will take ownership of the design, qualification, and performance improvement of electrical and electronic architectures for industrial systems (including plotters, cutters, and related equipment). The Senior Electrical Engineer also manage project activities using both V‑model and Agile methodologies, contribute expertise on component sourcing and obsolescence, and drive cost‑optimization initiatives.

Within the R&D department, the Product Line organization has several core missions:

  • Conceive, develop, and industrialize innovative, high‑performance, and reliable technological solutions that can be efficiently produced at scale, all while meeting environmental and social responsibility goals.
  • Support and maintain multiple generations of installed plotters and cutters deployed worldwide.
  • Build the foundations for future product lines.

Description



  • Key Responsibilities

    • Define detailed electrical and electronic system architectures in coordination with cross‑functional teams, purchasing, and mechatronics engineering.
    • Design electrical and electronic components, including control systems, power electronics, protection circuitry, and interfaces.
    • Create electronic board schematics, perform PCB layout, select components, and prepare manufacturing files (BOM, DRC).
    • Plan and execute validation and qualification testing campaigns, including documentation for safety, EMC/EMI, and environmental compliance.
    • Prepare calculations, reliability analyses (FMEA, MTBF), technical specifications, and test documentation.
    • Manage project timelines and risks using V‑model and Agile frameworks, and provide progress updates to the Director.
    • Address sourcing challenges and component end‑of‑life issues; qualify replacements and drive cost‑efficient BOM improvements.
    • Lead failure investigations and perform root‑cause analyses, proposing both corrective and preventive measures.
    • Develop FPGA / VHDL solutions for real‑time requirements when needed.
    • Collaborate closely with embedded firmware teams, mechanical engineering, and software development to ensure successful system integration.
    • Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical reference, with the potential to grow into a team management role.

Profile



Education & Experience

  • Degree in electronics, electrical engineering, automation, or a related field.
  • At least 7 years of experience in the design of industrial electronic systems, particularly in control or power electronics.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects using V‑model and Agile methodologies.


Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in PCB and schematic design tools (e.g., Altium, Mentor, KiCad).
  • Strong knowledge of component qualification, BOM management, and DFM/DFMEA methods.
  • Experience conducting and supervising qualification testing and using test instrumentation.
  • Ability to produce electrical calculations (power, dissipation, protection, thermal considerations).
  • Expertise in system‑level electronic/electrical integration (PLCs, sensors, actuators, I/O).
  • Experience with VHDL/FPGA programming is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of VFDs, power electronics (inverters, converters, MOSFET/IGBT technologies).
  • Familiarity with compliance and safety standards (EMC, CE marking, machinery safety).
  • Competence in reliability processes (FMEA, MTBF) and continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of embedded real‑time systems and firmware interfaces is a plus.
