Control Engineer | Robotics

$120,000 - $140,000/Year
We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, integration, and optimization of fully automated packaging machinery and production systems. This role plays a key part in engineering customized automation solutions-including filling, labeling, sleeving, pouching, capping, and secondary packaging equipment.

You will work with cross-functional teams to develop control architectures, implement PLC/HMI logic, integrate robotics and motion systems, and ensure that automated lines run safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is a hands-on engineering role ideal for someone who excels in fast-paced environments and enjoys working through the full project lifecycle-from concept through commissioning.

  • Key Responsibilities

    Control System Design & Development

    • Design, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and motion control systems for automated packaging equipment.
    • Develop control architectures, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and I/O mapping for integrated automation lines.
    • Implement and refine control logic for filling, capping, labeling, sleeving, pouching, and related packaging processes.


    Integration & Commissioning

    • Integrate robotics, sensors, vision systems, and servo/motion components into turnkey automation systems.
    • Perform system startup, testing, debugging, and optimization both in-house and at customer sites.
    • Ensure all equipment meets performance targets related to speed, accuracy, safety, and reliability.


    Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

    • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, software, and integration issues across automated machinery.
    • Improve cycle times, machine uptime, and throughput through data-driven control system enhancements.
    • Recommend upgrades to controls hardware, software, and electrical components to improve system performance.


    Technical Documentation & Support

    • Develop and maintain documentation including electrical schematics, logic diagrams, user manuals, and operator instructions.
    • Provide training and technical support to operators, technicians, and customers on newly installed equipment.


    Collaboration & Project Execution

    • Partner with mechanical engineers, project managers, and production teams to deliver complete automation solutions.
    • Work closely with customers during SAT, installations, and field service activities.
    • Support multiple simultaneous automation projects with strong organizational and communication skills.

Profile



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and programming PLC/HMI systems for automated machinery.
  • Proficiency with PLC platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or similar).
  • Experience with motion control, servo systems, VFDs, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Knowledge of robotics integration, industrial sensors, and vision systems is highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics, panel layouts, and technical diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, and software domains.
  • Willingness to travel for installations, commissioning, and customer support as needed.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a project-driven environment.
