We are seeking a highly skilled Head of Legal to join a growing team within the commercial real estate lending, investment and CMBS space. Based daily on-site in Richardson, Dallas, pivotal role building first in-house legal and compliance function.

Description

As Head of Legal:

  • Varied role, hands-on working directly with the asset management team on transactions, providing counsel to the senior leadership team and designing, building and managing a legal and compliance function from the ground up.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide legal guidance on regulatory compliance matters within the banking and financial services department.
  • Review and update compliance policies and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure they are updated in line with new regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and the senior leadership team to ensure alignment with legal and compliance standards, providing varied legal counsel.
  • Oversee outside counsel.

Profile

The Head of Legal should have:

  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in a state bar association.
  • Strong knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the asset management, loan workout, loan servicing, CMBS, securitization and relevant audit/ compliance.
  • Strong communicator with excellent executive presence.
  • Efficient, highly organized, with strong attention to detail.
  • Personable, communicative and collaborative, accustomed to working well with cross-functional teams.
