Metallurgical Engineer - Tewksbury, MA
The Metallurgical Engineer will join the small engineering team out of the Tewksbury, MA area. In this role you will have the opportunity to wear several hats, working hands on with coating and metallurgy processes.

My client is a small, well‑established organization founded over 50 years ago. They're a specialized materials‑processing firm focused on improving the durability and performance of metal components through advanced metallurgical treatments.
Description
The Metallurgical Engineer will:
- Conduct research and troubleshooting to support and improve the company's proprietary processes.
- Collaborate directly with customers to identify, diagnose, and resolve metallurgical and technical issues.
- Partner with the Quality Manager to provide technical expertise for manufacturing and quality‑related challenges.
- Investigate and resolve internal technical problems affecting production processes.
- Assist with metallography and microscopy activities, serving as backup support for internal lab operations.

Profile
A successful Metallurgical Engineer should have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience, outside of schooling, in a related field such as heat treating, coatings, or metal processing.
- Strong understanding of ferrous and non‑ferrous materials, with an emphasis on nickel‑based alloys.
- Hands‑on experience with microscopy and metallography techniques.
- Familiarity with wear, erosion, and associated failure mechanisms.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9000, AS9100, or comparable quality management standards.
- Experience in Aerospace or Oil & Gas industries is preferred.
