Qualifications Engineer - Aerospace Composites - Maryland
As Qualifications engineer, you are responsible for being a subject matter expert when it comes to materials used within each of the product offerings. You will qualify new material changes from suppliers as they come in as well as work with different departments on New Product Introduction to ensure that all processes align with the need of the customer.

Description
The key responsibilities for the Qualifications Engineer are:
- Lead & Execute Qualifications: Oversee product qualifications for aerospace materials, including raw materials and finished goods, ensuring alignment with business growth and change initiatives.
- Develop Qualification Strategies: Create and implement qualification plans that adhere to corporate and industry standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (manufacturing, quality, engineering, sales) and external partners (suppliers, customers) to drive efficient and effective requalification projects.
- Change Management: Coordinate change procedures with site and global quality teams to maintain compliance and process efficiency.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a technical authority on materials used across the company's product offerings.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Partner with cross-functional teams to support smooth NPI processes, ensuring new products meet customer needs and industry requirements.
Profile
A successful Qualifications Enigneer will have:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, or Polymer Science.
- Experience in the composites industry is a plus.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of the composite industry, including resin families and fibers.
- Proven problem-solving, technical presentation, relationship-building, and technical conflict resolution skills.
- Basic understanding of analytical, physical, and mechanical test methods.
- Basic understanding of statistical analysis.
- Commitment to high quality standards and a strong sense of urgency (action-oriented).
- Ability to create and lead cross-functional teams, engaging internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated initiative in solving complex technical and process problems.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to learn and manage multiple projects.
- Ability to display and develop project management skills.
