Project Accountant - NYC
As a Project Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of the construction projects, ensuring that budgets are met, expenses are tracked accurately, and all financial reporting is timely and compliant. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, construction industry processes, and project management.

My client is a dynamic and rapidly growing construction company based in New Jersey, specializing in large-scale commercial and residential projects. They are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join their team and help support their continued success.
Description
Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring all financials align with the scope of work and contract terms.
Process/track related invoices, including subcontractor payments, equipment costs, and material purchases.
Maintain accurate records of project costs and work closely with project managers to resolve discrepancies.
Review and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Prepare and present monthly financial reports, including P&L statements, project forecasts, and cash flow analysis.
Assist in the preparation of contract negotiations and change orders.
Ensure all project-related financials are up-to-date for auditing purposes.
Monitor and manage accounts payable/receivable for ongoing projects.
- Support the preparation of tax filings and other compliance documentation related to projects.
Profile
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of project accounting and job costing practices.
Proficiency in accounting software (experience with SAGE, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar platforms a plus).
Excellent Excel skills and experience working with financial data.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
