Client Details
My client is a mid-sized General Contractor located North of Boston, with their headquarters in Burlington, MA. They have a local Massachusetts office with a range of projects across the Greater Boston area, Metrowest, and North shore. Founded in 1977, they have become experts in the Multifamily, Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical, and Commercial industries, with projects ranging from $20M - $40M. They have consistently produced an annual revenue of $250M++ per year and have a strong pipeline of projects throughout the upcoming year. The team, consisting of 95+ highly skilled employees, is dedicated to executing top-notch output.
Description
The Estimator, Construction, is responsible for the following:
- Review bid documents from clients - work scopes, sketches, overlays, or full project plans - to fully understand required scope of work
- Prior to developing an estimate/bid proposal, coordinate with the Construction Project Manager assigned to the project to review bid documents and agree on a plan of action.
- Perform complete and accurate quantity take-offs from project plans.
- Prepare bid packages/detailed work scopes by trade for distribution to subcontractors to clearly define work scope for the major trades involved.
- Request material quotes from vendors supplying materials/services.
- Maintain accurate files for vendor quotes and subcontractor bids.
- Obtain multiple quotes for trade & material services, review all quotes in detail to confirm required scope is included.
- Negotiate with service providers for better rates.
- Attend/lead bid walks with clients and subcontractors
Profile
The Estimator Candidate will possess the following skills
- At least 10 years of experience in the construction industry
- Monitor and control projects through administrative direction
- Established relations with subcontractors
- Experience in projects up to $25M preferred
- Experience in both renovation and ground up building
- Variety of project experience preferred
- BA in construction related field
- Strong communication skills and organizational skills
