Property Accountant - NYC

As a Property Accountant, you will be responsible for the full-cycle accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of properties. You will work closely with the property management and development teams to ensure accurate reporting, budget management, and financial compliance. Description

• Manage daily accounting functions for multiple properties (journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close).

• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and reports.

• Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts related to property operations.

• Monitor rent rolls, tenant billing, collections, and lease compliance in coordination with property management.

• Track property-level expenses and ensure they align with approved budgets.

• Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations.

• Support audit processes and provide documentation as needed.

• Ensure compliance with financial and tax regulations specific to real estate and property accounting.

• Communicate financial insights and recommendations to senior management and ownership.

Profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally within real estate, property management, or construction industries.

• Proficiency in property accounting software (such as Yardi, MRI, or RealPage) strongly preferred.

• Solid understanding of real estate accounting principles, including CAM, lease abstraction, and tenant billing.

• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.

• Highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
