The Principal Controls Engineer will be a key individual in the automation development and practices in exciting time of a start up organization bringing a unique product to market.

Description

The Principal Controls Engineer will be responsible for:

• Develop PLC programs for automation and control.
• Configure and program SCADA systems for monitoring and optimization.
• Design HMI interfaces to support R&D and process improvements.
• Collaborate with engineers to define system specifications and control strategies.
• Enhance production efficiency through advanced control implementations.
• Work with equipment vendors to align automation strategies.
• Test, validate, and troubleshoot control systems for reliability.
• Provide technical support and assist in commissioning new projects.
• Maintain documentation for control designs, configurations, and procedures.
• Support SQL databases for manufacturing data management.
• Utilize Python for scripting, automation, and data analysis.

Profile

The successful Principal Controls Engineer will have MOST of what follows:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 7+ years of experience in industrial controls and automation.
• Expertise in PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, actuators, and industrial networks (Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Proficiency in SCADA platforms (preferably Ignition) and HMI development.
• Strong understanding of regulatory standards, safety protocols, and electrical schematics.
• Experience with SQL databases and Python scripting for automation.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues and engage with vendors & remote support.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
