Industrial - Manufacturing Engineer - Springfield, MA
The manufacturing engineer role focuses on designing and suggesting efficient manufacturing processes and techniques that align with product specifications and quality requirements. This includes proposing enhancements to production workflows, methods, and controls. Additionally, the engineer supports the launch of new or updated products in the manufacturing process. When necessary, they also assist with troubleshooting equipment issues and identifying the root cause of equipment failures across the plant.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Recommends strategies for process enhancement, resolving issues, and providing employee training.
- Works to optimize manufacturing processes, aiming for cost reduction, quality improvements, and operational efficiency.
- Develops and delivers implementation plans for process improvements, including team member training and coordination.
- Tracks and assesses the performance of manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Leads investigations into manufacturing irregularities, identifies root causes, and recommends corrective actions.
- Identifies opportunities for improving safety and reducing risks within the manufacturing environment.
- Collaborates with Manufacturing Engineers on capacity analysis and return-on-investment assessments for current and future projects.
- Assists in conducting time studies and supporting capital planning efforts.
- Supports the Manufacturing Engineering team in refining production control systems, SOPs, safety measures, quality controls, and training programs.
- Coordinates the successful launch of new or updated products, setting goals, providing training, and assessing outcomes.
- Designs, develops, tests, and justifies costs for tools, machinery, and equipment that support recommended manufacturing methods.
- Conducts product and process analyses to identify opportunities for cost savings, quality enhancements, and efficiency gains.
- Represents the manufacturing team in cross-functional collaboration and decision-making.
- Assembles mechanical and electronic devices and systems following engineering specs, blueprints, and layouts.
- Utilizes PLC programming and troubleshooting skills to support manufacturing operations.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 1 to 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Preferred experience in a high-volume, fast-paced metalworking manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in CAD software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact tactfully and professionally
- Solid math and computer skills (including Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects concurrently
