Accountant II - Environmental Co - Downtown Chicago, IL
I'm partnered with the CFO at a global, family-owned, multi-million dollar environmental company in Downtown Chicago (2 days remote). The company partners with large, well-known manufacturing companies to recycle their hazardous waste. Due to growth and opportunities for internal mobility, they are now looking to bring on an Accountant II to join their team.
Reporting into the Controller, you will act as the HQ Accountant and be responsible for assisting in various accounting functions, including month-end, audit, and other duties as assigned. As the Accountant II, you will have the opportunity to grow your career and move up internally within the organization.

Description
Accountant II Responsibilities:
- Act as the HQ Accountant for the organization
- Assist in the monthly general ledger close process
- Compile and review financial data on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Address accounting and financial queries through research and data interpretation
- Manage cash flow and perform bank reconciliations
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations
- Create financial reports for department and management review
- Manage lease agreements
- Support audit activities
Profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2+ years of experience in accounting
- Manufacturing industry experience or something related
- Advanced skills in Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, sum ifs, etc)
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate with others
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
