Precision Manufacturing - General Manager - Lowell, MA
A hands-on operational leader is needed to oversee daily production, strengthen core processes, and drive organizational alignment within a specialized precision manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for optimizing workflows, improving quality structures, enhancing communication across functions, and setting the tone for culture and accountability. The role also plays a key part in reestablishing and growing customer relationships to support long‑term expansion.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all onsite operational activities, including machine layout changes, equipment moves, and workflow optimization.
- Refine, implement, and document core processes across production, quality, scheduling, and logistics.
- Partner closely with the Production Manager to improve efficiency and throughput.
- Temporarily manage quality functions until an additional hire is made.
- Lead communication and coordination across production, office, purchasing, and logistics teams.
- Serve as the primary onsite leader, setting expectations for performance, communication, and culture.
- Reengage previous customers and support expansion of the account base.
- Contribute to developing a structured sales and growth strategy.
- Represent the company professionally with customers, vendors, and partners.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Proven leadership experience within manufacturing operations; gear manufacturing or precision machining experience preferred.
- Hands-on, solutions-oriented leader comfortable working in dynamic environments.
- Background in turnaround, scale-up, or startup-style operational environments.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with shop-floor teams and external customers.
- Experience managing cross-functional responsibilities, including operations, quality, logistics, and basic HR.
- Customer-facing or sales-related experience within a manufacturing environment.
