Quality Engineer - Machining | Spot Bonuses!

Our client, a machining manufacturer for the packaging industry, is looking for a Quality Engineer to be the first individual to be solely responsible for quality within the organization. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for building out processes and procedures and will be in charge of metrology responsibilities. This is an opportunity to gain strong leadership experience.

Client Details

Our client is a manufacturer of machining equipment used to package food and home care goods. Some of the customers include major companies such as Kellog's, Church & Dwight, and Purdue Chicken. They are a family owned company, with around 170 employees, and have been in business for over 100 years. Their manufacturing processes include machining, welding, and assembly capabilities.

Description

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Design and implement quality control systems, procedures, and processes to ensure products meet specifications and industry standards.

  • Ensure compliance with 3-A Sanitary Standards and other applicable quality management systems.

  • Conduct internal audits to verify adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.

  • Inspect and test raw materials, in-process items, and finished products to detect defects and uphold quality standards.

  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods to monitor production and drive quality improvements.

  • Analyze data to identify patterns, determine root causes of quality issues, and uncover areas for enhancement.

  • Collaborate with production teams to develop and implement process improvements that boost product quality and reduce defects.

  • Investigate production and supplier-related quality concerns, perform root cause analyses, and execute corrective actions.

  • Partner with Engineering and Purchasing teams to evaluate and approve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions for new or transferred products.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of inspections, testing results, and corrective measures taken.

  • Log and monitor product complaints and quality concerns, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by capturing best practices and lessons learned.

  • Train and support production staff in applying quality control protocols and industry best practices.

  • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Profile

A successful quality engineer will look like:

  • 5+ years of experience in a quality manufacturing setting
  • Experience building processes and procedures, including SOPs, Work Instructions, corrective action plans, quality control systems, etc.
  • GD&T experience
  • SPC experience
  • Metrology experience - calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.
  • Sponsorship not provided
