Mechanical Engineer - Power Devices - Saratoga County, NY
Lead mechanical design and development of power conversion and transformer products for military applications. Perform structural, thermal, and material analysis to ensure reliability in extreme conditions. Client Details
My client is a leading manufacturer of power conversion, magnetics, and transformer solutions, providing mission-critical power supplies to the U.S. Military and defense industry. Their team is dedicated to delivering high-reliability power systems for some of the most demanding applications in aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors. Description
- Lead mechanical design and development of power conversion and transformer products for military applications.
- Perform structural, thermal, and material analysis to ensure reliability in extreme conditions.
- Work with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Oversee DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design for Assembly) processes to optimize production efficiency.
- Ensure designs comply with military and industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ASME, ANSI).
- Utilize CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) for 3D modeling and drafting.
- Conduct root cause analysis and design improvements for existing products.
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation processes.
Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in mechanical design within the power conversion, magnetics, or defense industry.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and simulation tools (SolidWorks, ANSYS, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of thermal management, materials, and enclosure design for rugged environments.
- Familiarity with military specifications and defense contracting requirements.
- Experience with sheet metal fabrication, castings, and machining processes.
- Ability to lead design reviews, technical documentation, and compliance assessments.
- Must be US citizen with ability to secure a US Government security clearance; Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to export controlled data.
