Digital Process Engineer
The Site Digital Process Engineer will be a pivotal role supporting the Global Business Unit's Digital Transformation efforts. You will be maintaining site instrumentation and automation software.
Client Details
Our client is a composite manufacturing company based in Maryland geared towards the aerospace industry.
This is a 24/7 facility that is spread across 3-shifts. The facility is a 'vintage' facility that was established in the 1950s with 300 employees on-site. The most difficult aspect of this job could be the facility's unique operation and learning the technology.
Description
- Supporting and driving the vision for the plant's digital strategy and MES rollout
- Acting as the Single Point of Contact for questions/issues regarding process information software including OsiSoft PI, Aspen InfoPlus.21, or Wonderware IIM and layered products
- Coaching data teams in production sites during manufacturing improvement projects
- Collaborating with data scientists, process, and automation specialists to refine instrumentation and data as needed
- Identifying problems with data sources (missing data, redundant data, incomplete data, etc.) and recommending solutions
- Setting up data quality, data availability, and data consistency metrics to test the data and drive the testing process
- Being part of this global virtual team to standardize and digitalize ways of working will significantly impact how the business serves the Aerospace industry
- Standard working hours for the site's time zone are expected; however, some off-hours work is required to coordinate with other sites in different regions and deploy/support digital tool use on various work shifts
Profile
- Creating scripts to deliver data with required quality/consistency and in the required format for advanced analytics models
- Actively contributing to the data community, sharing knowledge and best practices
- A bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- At least 5 years of experience in data collection, instrumentation, PLCs/HMIs/DCSs, and software solutions in a manufacturing environment
- Skills and Behavioral Competencies:
- Experience with instrument sizing/selection and loop tuning
- Good knowledge of PLC and HMI (Allen Bradley/Siemens/Wonderware) hardware and software
- Proficiency in AspenTech IP 21 or OsiSoft PI Manufacturing Software
- Understanding of database basics (structure, types)
- Knowledge in firewalls and industrial networks management
- Client-oriented and collaborative attitude
- Ability to handle multiple problems concurrently, prioritize appropriately, and communicate with users
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written
- Literacy in MS Applications and cloud software (GApps or other cloud Apps). anah
- This is a site-based position, but travel will be required to support other sites
