The manager provides support and guidance to the supervisor and team members to ensure safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics are achieved.

Description

* Ensures the Safety of all team members, reporting all accidents, injuries and near misses timely. Engages the team to identify opportunities for Safety improvements. Assures proper PPE is utilized per requirements and proactively audits for at risk behaviors or conditions. Clearly communicates Safety expectations and policies.

* Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions. Clearly communicates these requirements and leads by examples to ensure team members adhere to documented job instructions and quality specifications.

* Creates a department vision and improvement plan while building a strong, motivated production team capable of safety delivering high quality coils on time.

* Provides feedback and input into process and continuous improvement.

* Drives a culture that prioritizes safety and quality through communication, action, and accountability.

* Empowers the production team to collaborate cross functionally to improve, safety, quality, delivery and cost and provides input into new product develop to ensure efficient manufacturability.

* Ensure production team receives effective training, drives cross training and effective utilization of resources. Partners with the Production Supervisor and Team Leader to establish cross training plans that support the production schedules and their execution. Train supervisor and operators on procedures and policies.

* Partners with the Operations Director to maintain and improve when needed company policies.

* Communicates effectively to ensure the Production Supervisors and team members are informed.

* Drives resolution of issues down to root cause causes and promotes an environment of continuous learning and improvement.

* Through standard work, ensures production teams utilize standardized work and consistent work practices across shifts and areas to maintain best work practices and drive identification of opportunities for improvement.

* May lead SQDC meetings and/or actively participate in Daily Management process to drive improvements and coach assembly and test staff and supervisors.

* Responsible for staff management and development including assigning and directing work, appraising performance, hiring, training and retention, disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

* Manage and maintain the work environment, open the facility, order tools and schedule preventative maintenance.

* Support maintenance of equipment and facilities; recommending replacement of equipment as appropriate.

* Ensures product is received and shipped between facilities efficiently.

* Responsible for staff management and development including time and attendance, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, hiring, training and retention, disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

* Perform other duties as assigned. Profile

Bachelor of Science degree in a technical or business discipline, Engineering preferred. Masters degree a plus.

* A minimum of six (6) years of progressive experience in project leadership.

* Experience in a manufacturing environment (Aerospace or equivalent) demonstrating leadership competencies.

* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Must have the ability to listen and understand end users' needs.

* Positive attitude.

* Must have Lean and Six Sigma application experience; certification a plus.

* Must have an advanced level of business acumen.
