Honing Technician/Operator - I.D. Precision Honing - Hartford

Setting up and operating one or more honing machines to process internal surfaces of components such as cylinders, bearings, and connecting rods. Identify, select, and retrieve correct materials and tools for each job.

My client is a small precision machining company based in the Hartford, CT area, specializing in internal diameter (I.D.) honing services. They serve industries such as aerospace, medical, automotive, and defense by delivering high-accuracy work with tight tolerances and fine surface finishes. Their climate-controlled facility is equipped with advanced Sunnen honing machines and a wide range of inspection tools to ensure consistent quality.

My client is a AS 9003:2012 certified and known for meeting demanding specifications across various materials, including stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and plastics. Description

• Set up and operate manual honing machines based on job specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints and job orders for product requirements such as dimensions, tolerances, speeds, feeds, and tooling needs.
• Measure finished parts to ensure they meet precise specifications using gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
• Identify, select, and retrieve correct materials and tools for each job.
• Work independently to produce high-quality results within tight tolerances.
• Follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Adapt to changing priorities and perform a variety of tasks as required.

Profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a machine shop environment, specifically with honing operations.
• Hands-on experience operating Sunnen Honing Machines is required.
• Strong understanding of machining principles and shop safety practices.
• High school diploma or equivalent education required.
• Ability to work with measuring instruments and maintain tight tolerances.
