Director of Logistics, Warehouse & Transportation (Food)
The Director is responsible for all aspects of logistics and transportation, including the efficient movement of finished goods from the company's distribution network to their customers, and the transportation of raw materials and packaging between their vendors and their production facilities. Additionally, responsible for managing all warehousing activities, personnel, and equipment.

Our client is a world renowned food manufacturer of grab-and-go products, any time meals, and affordable options for all. They are a leader in their category and have several distribution sites both nationally and globally. The company's Torrance, CA headquarters is looking for their next leader of logistics, distribution and transportation, leading a vast team of professionals across the various DC locations and home facility.
Description
- Developing and operating within monthly and annual transportation budgets
- Identifying and securing transportation partners, leading RFPs, vendor selection and negotiation - ensuring transportation capacity to meet company needs
- Establishing departmental policies and procedures that guarantee the effective and efficient flow of inventory and information to exceed customers' requirements, both internal and external - OTIF
- Managing Transportation Management System and performance outcomes
- Make recommendations for equipment purchases and capital improvements.
- Effective management of warehouse operations, including third party warehouses
- Develop and maintain effective slotting process.
- Ensure first Expiration first out (FEFO) rotation procedures are in effect for shipping and storage.
- Manage shuttle transfer operations.
- Manage 3 PL warehouse relationships and ensure that all operations are per company standards (Shipping receiving, cycle counts)
- Ensure OSHA and SQF requirements are effectively implemented.
- Ensure warehouse security.
- Maintain professional business relations with vendors, suppliers, carriers, and external contacts.
- Manage and develop DC operations teams
- Provide leadership to assigned personnel by setting effective objectives, delegation of duties, and establishing open communication. Conduct regular meetings to ensure personnel are well informed of changes in policies and procedures. Discuss areas needing improvement.
- Identify, develop, and implement training programs as appropriate.
- Implement KPIs within the warehouses (Labor hour per pallet, Indirect labor hours, Equipment utilization, OT hours and other Safety KPI's)
- Assist the IT team with selection of WMS and lead WMS implementation.
Profile
- Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) from an accredited college or university
- 7+ years relevant experience and/or training in the manufacturing industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Warehouse, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), inventory control, order management
- MRP systems, cost accounting experience
Job Offer
- $180,000 - $210,000 base salary range
- 30% annual bonus target
- Will cover relocation if needed
- 3x/week onsite in Torrance facility (will be onsite daily during initial few weeks of onboarding)
