Real Estate Senior Accountant
Our client, an impactful nonprofit based in Brooklyn, is looking for an experienced accountant with 3+ years of real estate/nonprofit experience. This is a temp to perm role, and the successful candidate will be immediately available to start a new role.
Client Details
Impactful nonprofit involved in affordable housing and retail properties based in Brooklyn. This role is 5 days per week in office before transitioning to hybrid & offers a chance to work with a growing nonprofit with a great portfolio.
Description
This role will involve:
- General Ledger Management: Maintain accurate records for real estate projects, including construction, renovation, and property management.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for real estate holdings.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets, ensuring alignment with funding sources and timelines.
- Compliance & Auditing: Ensure adherence to HUD, HPD, and IRS regulations for affordable housing projects.
- Tax Credit Monitoring: Track and report on Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and other incentive programs.
- Property Financials: Oversee rent rolls, operating expenses, and capital improvement budgets for managed properties.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare financial reports for funders, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Profile
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate or nonprofit sectors.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, MRI).
- Strong understanding of real estate finance, including tax credits and affordable housing regulations.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
