Defense Industry - Manufacturing Engineer - Springfield, MA
In this role, you will develop and document manufacturing plans while managing product configuration and overseeing change processes to ensure efficient production. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-reduction opportunities, enhance manufacturability, and support quality initiatives, maintaining clear communication with customers and suppliers throughout the process.

Description
Responsibilities:
- Develop and document manufacturing plans (Job Travelers) for machining, special processing, assembly, and inspection operations.
- Manage product configuration and oversee configuration change processes.
- Prepare purchase order requisitions for necessary supplies, materials, and hardware to complete projects.
- Issue RFQs to suppliers for materials and services required for production.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities, enhance manufacturability, and minimize scrap.
- Collaborate with teams to create and implement systems that optimize all phases of the production process.
- Support the quality department in investigating non-conformance issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions, while assessing opportunities for process improvement.
- Maintain routine communication with customers and suppliers to ensure smooth product manufacturing.
Profile
Ideal Candidate:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or a related field.
- Proficient in essential manufacturing processes such as turning, milling, and grinding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of managing change effectively.
- Team-oriented with a willingness to assist in various areas as needed.
- Basic knowledge of specialized processes, including heat treating, plating, and non-destructive testing.
- Skilled in interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Proficient in CAD and solid modeling, with a preference for SolidWorks.
